ZOO BRAZIL

Finest House from Sweden

John Andersson and Johan Emmoth are both versatile producers, creating everything from hard P-funk influenced adventures to hard pounding techno and latin grooves for labels around the world, establishing themselves on the international house scene as today's most interesting duo.

At a point they came to a crossroad where they had to choose between their regular jobs and their production. There where too many record companies showing interest. So both of them quit their jobs to be able to give full commitment to the music.

-It felt totally right to give everything into the music. At the same time we got access to a new studio and got the opportunity to change publishers, John says. They are now with Sony and Skint in the U.K and the ability to survive with their passion, music, is fantastic. Mostly 'cause they don't have to take anybody else's directions, and can make music they feel for. Music they like themselves and can stand up for.

-If people don't like what we do it's not our fault, it's them who have sour taste, says John with a certain sense of seriousness and continues: It is important to follow your own feeling. Not to care too much what other people do but the entire time listen to yourself. Eventually you will develop your own sound and that's the most important thing. It's not about mass production or releasing from as many companies as possible, okay you get lots of money in your account, but that's not it. Music has to be honest and have feeling, otherwise we wouldn't listen and love the music we make. They don't have any trouble in finding inspiration. They have learnt to work both with and without pressure. They also don't need a lot to light a new flare as motivation drops. A good voice on the other side of the mic can result in quite a few new releases.

-We have mostly been working with Emma Holmgren and Derek Conyer. Together we've produced almost twenty-five new vocal tracks, says Johan.

-Right now we just want to concentrate in making our own music, remix and release from other companies. Although we will start playing more records, we got the taste for more when we played at the Big Beat Boutique in Brighton a while ago. More gigs are coming up for example in the US and Spain.

By the end of 2003 they shall release a new ep. at So Sound recordings under the name Zoo Brazil, "Dangerous" ep., something we're asking you to keep your eyes open for...
